Our Reflection
Day 1:
We felt that beginning with a KWL chart worked well with the class because we were able to discover the students' prior knowledge. It also helped us establish a direction for the lesson. We left the KWL chart up for students to refer to throughout the lesson. We provided a poster that contained the layers of the rainforest as well as pictures of the animals that students would be creating. The poster was a valuable tool because it allowed students to visually see their animals. We provided students with a packet to help them focus their learning as well as record their research information.
Day 2:
The packets were helpful because students were able to write facts about their animals before creating them. This enabled us to hold students accountable for finding facts on their animals. We provided students with a variety of materials to us in the creation of their animals. This is an essential part of the lesson because it allowed students make choices and use their imagination in designing their animals.
Day 3:
The students were given an opportunity to present their animal. This was a time when students could teach their peers about what they discovered. I allowed them to show off their hard work and be teachers for a day.
