Goals:
The goals of elementary science in the Des Moines Public Schools
are to:
- develop inquiring minds and scientific apporoaches to solving
problems.
- develop skills of observation, investigation, experimentation,
analyzing, defining, classifying, and communication.
- experience the excitement of knowing about and understanding
the natural world.
- learn fundatmental information about the natural world.
- reduce frears of the unkown and recognize cautions where
appropriate.
Environmental Science Objectives K-2:
- Develop an appreciation for land, water, and air.
- Explain the importance of precycling, reusing and recycling
and describe how individuals, families and schools can
conserve.
