Goals:

The goals of elementary science in the Des Moines Public Schools are to:

• develop inquiring minds and scientific apporoaches to solving problems.
• develop skills of observation, investigation, experimentation, analyzing, defining, classifying, and communication.
• experience the excitement of knowing about and understanding the natural world.
• learn fundatmental information about the natural world.
• reduce frears of the unkown and recognize cautions where appropriate.

Environmental Science Objectives K-2:

• Develop an appreciation for land, water, and air.
• Explain the importance of precycling, reusing and recycling and describe how individuals, families and schools can conserve.
