Geometry: (Perimeter and Area)

Resources Needed:

1. Computers with the Internet

2. Pencil and paper

3. Calculator (optional)

Lesson Activity:

Exposition:

Introduce the formulas of perimeter and area and explain the logic behind them.

Experience/Procedure:

A carpenter and architect and will visit the classroom and explain why being able to find perimeter             and the area are important.

Critical Thinking:

Questions by students and the speakers will be posed and both will answer the others questions.

Interactive Learning:

Students in groups of two or three will log into the New Zealand Learning Mathematics Website            and go into the Shape Surveyor Geometry Game. There they will practice finding perimeters and            areas.

Assignment:

Students in groups or individually will log into the QUAECUMQUE SUNT VERA Website and go into the appropriate level under Word Problems For Kids. There they will practice finding perimeters and areas.
